Overview

Iris is a self-built user behavior collection and analytics platform developed by Teown, based on the philosophy that what users do matters more than what they say. Integration takes three steps: create a project to obtain an app_id, include the SDK, and initialize—pageviews, click coordinates, dwell time and bounce are collected automatically. Dashboards cover 12 dimensions with 7/14/30-day or custom ranges and daily/hourly granularity, plus a real-time big screen for today's metrics and live event streams. The data pipeline follows a three-stage flow of validation, Redis buffering and consumer aggregation into storage, with monthly table partitioning and daily aggregation, supporting high-concurrency reporting and UV deduplication. Permissions provide four roles (Owner/Admin/Member/Viewer) with invite links and strict multi-project data isolation, and an open API key allows other systems to integrate programmatically.

Context and challenge

Mainstream analytics products suffer from high cost, data leaving your jurisdiction or complex integration. Iris serves teams that want data autonomy and lightweight integration: self-hosted deployment, one line of SDK and 12 analytics dimensions, with data fully under your own control. Teown's own products such as Echo have already integrated the Iris SDK for their behavior analytics.

Approach and delivery

1) Multi-platform SDK: Web/H5 and WeChat Mini Programs, zero-dependency, with automatic collection, manual events and local debugging; 2) three-stage data pipeline: validation, Redis buffering and consumer aggregation with monthly partitioning; 3) 12-dimension dashboards plus real-time big screen; 4) multi-project permissions: four roles, invite links and strict data isolation; 5) open API: programmatic access for other systems to report and query analytics.

Outcome

Iris launched in August 2026; the Echo survey platform has already integrated its SDK for behavior analytics.
